The Hotel de Londres y de Inglaterra (London and England Hotel) is one of the most prestigious hotels in San Sebastian. Housed in a 19th century building, it was totally refurbished this year, 2013, and now boasts a fresh, modern hotel interior, whilst retaining its link to the past through the use of Belle Époque furniture.
Of all the renovation work, we have to mention the top two floors, which boast large terraces overlooking La Concha beach. These two stories are recent additions to the original, shorter building.
As we mentioned, the hotel’s location cannot be bettered; it’s right next to the city’s main beach and just 50 metres from Avenida de la Libertad, the city’s main shopping street. The Old Town is also just 300 metres away.
When booking at Hotel Londres, make sure to reserve one of the rooms with a view of the beach. As a general rule, these rooms are a little more expensive but if you’re considering staying in this hotel, it’s well worth it. Waking up every morning to a panoramic view of La Concha bay is truly priceless. What’s more, in the evening, you can witness some of the most beautiful sunsets in the city from the comfort of your own room.
The hotel has its own restaurant, the Mari Galant Brasserie, which has also been renovated and serves traditional Basque cuisine. The dining area also enjoys wonderful views of the beach.
If you’re not hungry but fancy a drink, you can always go to the Swing Bar, the perfect place to sip a cocktail whilst enjoying the incredible views.
The hotel rooms are well equipped, with a wide range of amenities. They have flat screen televisions, mini bars, air conditioning and Wi-Fi access.
