The naval museum of San Sebastián is a small museum that pays tribute to the tradition and history of the basque maritimum heritage. It is located inside an old 18th century house which used to be a tower-house owned by the consulate, and it can be found in San Sebastián port, just before the Aquarium –which is also in the port- and the stairs leading to the New Promenade.

The building has three floors. The first and the second frequently host temporary –though long-term- monographic exhibitions dealing with the sea. The third floor usually hosts educational workshops and minor exhibitions and it also has a library open for everyone who wishes to acquire in-depth knowledge related to the naval history of the Basque Country.

As we already said, it is a small but interesting museum. If you are visiting the Aquarium in San Sebastián, it would be a good idea to drop by the naval museum as well.
