San Sebastian’s proximity to France means that the towns on the border have obvious roots in Basque culture.
Biarritz is one of the most beautiful towns on the opposite side of the border, and is most definitely worth a visit. For many years, this city was a holiday resort for the crème de la crème of European aristocracy. These days, it remains a very popular tourist destination in the Summer, although it’s somewhat more laid back than in its heyday.
Its vast beach has made it a favourite destination for many European surfers, who now flock to the area to practice their favourite sport.
After visiting Biarritz, we’ll visit Saint jean de Luz and the border town of Hendaya, before crossing the River Bidasoa back into Spain.
