The San Sebastian City Hall is one of the most emblematic buildings of the city. Inaugurated on July 1, 1887, it took more than 5 years to build it. Even María Cristina de Habsburgo, wife of Alfonso XII, attended the inauguration.
It was not until January 20, 1945 when it would become a town hall, when the architects Alday and Arizmendi modified it and turned what was a casino until that date into what is today the town hall of San Sebastian, which until then was located in the Plaza de la Constitución.
Today the building, in addition to being the town hall, serves as a service to the citizens where they can carry out various procedures.
In 2016, a new lighting for the entire building was inaugurated. It is a lighting based on LED bulbs that can change color depending on the time of year we are or festivity that is.
On the other hand, nowadays it is possible to celebrate weddings in the town hall, with the possibility of a quick wedding, where only the people who are getting married and their witnesses will attend, or an ordinary wedding, with a public act of celebration.
The town hall is located at the beginning of the old town, next to the boulevard and the beautiful gardens of Alderdi Eder. Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful areas with the best views of the bay of La Concha.
